Here's a tonic beverage to protect the mucous membranes, lungs and nerves from toxic smoke. It's still good even if you can't get all of the listed ingredients.
Blended Respiratory Remedy
2 oz aloe gel or juice
2 Tbs flax, hemp or chia seeds (can be whole or ground seeds)
2 Tbs fresh basil, thyme or mint or 1 Tbs of the dried herbs
2 Tbs maple syrup, honey or pitted dates
1 whole lemon
1 liter water, coconut water, herb or green tea
Drink 1/4 cup throughout the day warm or at room temperature.
Namaste, Ed

From Dr. Loi Medvin
Please remember to stop and breathe, to slow down and focus in for a moment on yourself.
Feel your breath and your body as it moves with each breath down into your belly.
Take a break, allow yourself to settle and calm, as you breathe gently and easily.
Imagine roots going from your feet deep down, connecting to the solid earth energy below you.
Bring that calming energy up with your breath and imagine it nourishing and replenishing you.

Dear Sonoma County Residents, In this stressful time its important to remember the small things.
1) Try Andrew Weil's anti-anxiety breath:
Inhale for the count of 4, hold for the count of 7, exhale for the count of 8.
Do that for awhile. You'll notice yourself calming.
2) Back off on inflammatory foods, we're inflamed enough already!
Decrease smoked or bbq foods, alcohol and sugar.
Increase raw, steamed, poached or stewed veggies.
Pears nourish the cilia of the lungs. Eat them raw and cooked.
3) Take Host Defense Mushrooms. Many of their mushroom blends are excellent for lung health.
4) Drink Throat Comfort and Throat Coat tea.
5) Take a multi-vitamin. Lubricate your nasal passages with saline water or coconut oil if you've been outside.
6) Stay hydrated.
7) Stay well rested.
8) Come get treated.
It's important to keep your stress levels down and your immune systems strong right now. I have lots of Lung and Calm-the-Heart and Spirit formulas on hand that can help you stay well.
Feel free to contact me via Facebook if you have any questions or concerns about your health at this time. Im praying for the safety of all, as I know you are as well. The clinic is open and I'm here to help

From Dr. Melissa Patterson
Below are some techniques that I recommend to utilize to help get back to center, especially when it feels like it's hard to go on.
1) Breathe: When we breath shallowly it induces more sympathetic nervous system activation. In other words it keeps us stressed out. If you have an air purifier use it, don't breath too deeply when around the burned areas...But, DO breathe deeply when you can. If you are really stressed out use 1:1 breathing. Use an equal number of seconds with inhale and exhale, i.e. 4 seconds in, 4 seconds out. To calm down even more use 1:2 breaths, i.e 4 seconds inhale, 8 seconds exhale engages relaxation.
2) Pray...Seriously! A lot of prayer is happening already... But, what I am talking about goes deeper than that...examples: Pray to have capacity to walk through this situation. Pray for your being and those around you to be supported with what is needed. Pray for us to get the lesson (individually and collectively) that is here and use this fire to crack us open into our next evolutionary leap. Pray to surrender what has been lost. Pray to deeply know and trust reality beyond what we "see". Pray to feel the hands of the divine supporting you.
You get the picture.....
3) Meditate: Whatever form works for you do it and do it as often as is possible. This is imperative to help us get out of our "freaked out/survival" mind. It helps us relax back into the bigger arms that are holding us to have faith and trust that even though we don't "know" what is going to happen that something bigger than ourselves is out there supporting us.
4) Volunteer: If you have the time and energy volunteer. Be part of the solution. Volunteering shifts the pain and isolation you may be feeling because you then become part of the solution. Giving shifts you internally because you are moving the stuck/scared energy. You are then using this energy to rally and help those in need.
4) Connect: Especially if you tend to isolate. Talk to your friends, family and colleagues. Share with them how you are truly feeling. Don't be afraid to cry, let it out. Connection is imperative.
